With all of this time we are spending in our homes lately, it’s the perfect time to add some fresh decor to our spaces to uplift our moods! March is a great month to replace our winter items with fresh decor and start injecting Spring colors and textures into our lives! Here are a few ways that I transition my home for the season.
1. Change out winter branches and greenery with Spring blooms
Not only can you change out your vases, but making sure the greenery you put in them (even it’s faux) fits with the season. Cherry Blossoms and other seasonal greenery or branches and also who doesn’t love fresh flowers? Peonies are popular this time of the year, and there are lots of options for faux flowers that look very realistic. What an easy way to change the mood in the home and a great way to make it feel fresh and cheery!
2. Change out the scents of candles or oils that you are burning
I think that the scents we burn have such an impact on our mood, and they set the tone for our home and create an experience. Some of the scents we were burning during the winter time might still be lingering around, and there is no better way to welcome Spring than to engage our sense of smell with a dose of floral and/or fresher, cleaner fragrances! Let’s store away the fall and winter scents until next year!
3. Swap out throw pillows and blankets for spring colors and textures
During the winter we use lots of heavier fabrics, plaids and seasonal colors. I love to change up my pillows because it’s a relatively easy and inexpensive way to transform the space. I find that the pillows I select in the Spring will typically work all the way through summer. A little tip is to get pillow covers that zip and to use the same pillow inserts to save on buying the whole pillow. It is more cost effective, and the pillow covers you remove from the last season can be stored away easily (folded up in a closet) until next year. Blankets are a great way to lift the space and make it feel lighter as well. In warmer weather, we don’t necessarily need the wool and furry blankets that look more seasonal and can opt for a light weight throw, instead.
I hope this inspires you to get a start on enjoying Spring inside your home!
